Privacy notice
Lonera is a safety app for women travelling solo. This page explains what we do with the details you give us when you join the waitlist on this site, and what this site stores on your device. It does not cover the Lonera app itself, which will have its own notice before launch. The waitlist is for people aged 18 and over.
Who is responsible
The controller is Katon Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17137613), with its registered office at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Contact: lonera@katontechnologies.com.
What we collect
| Email address | Required to join. So we can write to you. |
|---|---|
| Next destination | Optional. Free text you choose to enter. |
| Travel month | Optional. |
| Feature votes | The ideas you marked "I'd use this". |
| Page version | Which of two versions of the page you saw (A or B). |
| Consent | That you ticked the consent box, and the time you did. |
| Technical data | Your IP address and browser details reach our host when you load the page or send the form. See "Security and hosting" below. |
We do not ask for your name, phone number or location. We do not send your email, destination or any other personal detail to our analytics, we do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Why we use it, and on what basis
| Launch emails | To tell you when Lonera launches and what is changing before then. Basis: your consent. |
|---|---|
| Product research | Your destination, month and votes help us decide what to build and in which city. Basis: your consent. |
| Interview invitations | Occasionally we may invite you to a short conversation. You can always say no. Basis: your consent. |
| Security | We use your IP address for a few minutes to limit repeated form submissions and stop abuse. It is kept only in temporary memory and not stored with your waitlist entry. Basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the waitlist free of spam. |
| Visit statistics | Counts of visits and clicks, per page version, so we can tell which version works better. Basis: our legitimate interest in improving the site. No cookies, and you are not identified. |
You can withdraw consent at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us. Withdrawing does not affect what we did before you withdrew. No decisions about you are made by automated means.
What this site stores on your device
This site sets no cookies. It saves one small item in your browser's local storage, called lonera_variant, which remembers whether you saw version A or B of the page, so you see the same version if you come back. It holds no personal details. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings; the site works the same without it.
Who processes it for us
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) stores the waitlist and sends our emails.
- Vercel (Vercel Inc., United States) hosts this site, runs the waitlist form and provides cookieless visit statistics.
Both act only on our instructions under data processing agreements. Brevo keeps data in the European Union, which UK law recognises as giving adequate protection. Vercel may process data in the United States; those transfers are covered by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Security and hosting
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. Our host keeps short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses, to run and protect the service. Access to the waitlist is limited to the people at Katon Technologies Ltd who need it.
How long we keep it
We delete waitlist data 12 months after Lonera launches, or 24 months after you join if it has not launched by then, whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove it within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, or to withdraw consent, at any time. Email lonera@katontechnologies.com and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, where needed, tell you by email.
